Project: Creating a modern basement apartment for rental purposes.
Location: Alliston, ON
This project had some unique guidlines as the occupants of this space could change with the end use for this space being to generate rental income. This had to be a space that was gender neutral, packed full of storage and style and it had to happen within a limited budget. The space is warm with neutral walls and cabinetry yet it is not boring. There is a warm engineered rustic maple floor and marble backsplash in the kitchen with a slate look counter top in the kitchen. A modern stainless steel range hood adds visual interest. No overhead cabinets were added along the one wall to keep things from feeling too tight and stuffy. White appliances keep the kitchen feeling airy. There is just enough contrast in this space to keep your interest but not overpowering for this small space. The bathroom was treated to black slate tile floors and the shower was clad in porcelain wall tiles and a rain head shower. A kitchen cart was transformed into the vanity with a large vessel sink and tall faucet.
